Removable is the work most U.S. labs would rather not equip for. A partial framework needs a metal route — casting or SLM printing — and both are a real investment: the machine, the post-processing, the finishing bench and someone who knows what a framework should feel like before it goes in a mouth. For a lab whose volume is mostly crown and bridge, that capacity sits idle most of the month.

Why titanium
Titanium is the alloy we print. It is roughly half the density of cobalt-chrome, which patients notice on large maxillary frameworks, and it is the straightforward answer when there is a documented metal sensitivity.
It is not universally better and we do not pretend otherwise: Co-Cr is considerably stiffer, so it achieves the same rigidity in a thinner section, which matters in a tight lingual bar. Files get validated before the machine runs
A framework file can be prosthetically correct and still be unprintable. The three failures we see most:
- Non-manifold geometry — holes or self-intersections that a slicer either rejects or silently "repairs" into something nobody designed.
- Sections below the process minimum — geometry that is fine in theory and warps or disappears in SLM.
- Support-hostile orientation — clasps oriented so supports land exactly on the surfaces that must stay untouched.
We check for these before producing. A lab that sends its own designs gets told what is wrong and why, in time to decide — which is worth more than a framework that technically got printed.

Most labs start with the second and move to the first once their own designer learns the workflow — which is a fine outcome. We would rather be the capacity you use than the dependency you resent.
The economics against buying the equipment
An SLM route for removable is not one purchase. It is the printer, the powder handling, the heat treatment, the post-processing, the finishing bench, the technician and the learning curve — and it earns nothing in the weeks your removable volume is low.
Outsourced production turns that into a per-case line: it costs when it produces, and nothing when it doesn't. Pricing is quoted per case in USD by complexity and volume, design included. Our rates are competitive for this level of work; more importantly, they are variable.
The comparison worth running is not our quote against another vendor's. It is our quote against the fully loaded cost of the frameworks you produce in a slow month.
Getting it there and back
Ground or 2-day freight from Mexico, inside USMCA. That matters more on removable than on a single crown: a framework that needs a remake restarts a cycle, and a short cycle is the difference between a delayed delivery and a lost case.
It matters for communication too. A question about a framework — an undercut that reads ambiguously, a connector that fights the available space — gets asked and answered inside your business day. On a case with as many decisions as an RPD, that adds up.
